Alright guys, since im kind of testing a bunch of things out ive dicided to actually create an actual Forum.
Tell me if youd rather it stay here on livejournal or actually be a forum. I just think after reading and using livejournal for this sort of thing its more convienent to have it all in one forum. Much more organized. What do you think myles? Im much more apt to appoint mods there too since here on livejournal i have less control over what mods can and cant do. Again, im really thinking that its going to be the main site for this comm. but im still willing to use it here as well if you guys dont want to use a forum.

Also, if anyone wants sigs *no animation though i cant do animation yet!!* let me know. give me some pics and i can churn some out for ya ^_^;

heres the link. http://com3.runboard.com/bdragonroleplay

Let me know guys! your opinions count!

I’ll tell you the absolute truth. I had signed up for your community because of the ingenuity of a role-playing organization located on LiveJournal that was convenient toward my knowledge and understanding of the simplicity and effectiveness of a LiveJournal set-up. I guess what I’m nervous about is; I am unaware of how an online forum works, and how I would be able to get it to function on my computer properly. I admire your online forum and I am awestruck by the efforts you have placed into it.

The most important genres that I have been seeing in this LiveJournal community were the multiple story-lines that are taking place for separate characters. I worry that the role play section on the online forum would not be able to cover so many different lands and story-lines that are being taken place separately from detached characters. Yes, many characters do have the potential to encounter and cross paths with others, actually that is the hopeful ideal for many of the active players currently. Is there a way for the forum to separate story-lines for separate players? For example: Your character and mine are operating on a tag labeled as beginning, whilst Crystal and many of my NPCs are operating on a tag labeled as Borasheem. All you have to do it click one of these tags in order to access all posts related to these tags. (Although, I do admit that they have not been appearing for the LiveJournal community)

I am willing to show more interest in the online forum probably more in a futuristic sense. This could mean a week or possibly two months for me to examine and learn how the forum would operate on my computer. Otherwise, I still find the LiveJournal community to be very convenient and operational so far. I don’t detect many flaws. You may be correct and the forum may be a more organized and a helpful method for the community. But currently I am finding the LiveJournal to be extremely fun and successful. I am also interested in hearing the opinions of the other players and potential players for the role-play community. But as far as current story-lines are going for numerous players and potential players, I was hoping to use LiveJournal with more time to keep track of everyone and every post. (I like how my e-mail informs me when someone has replied with a continue toward role-play)

Another thought is: I’ve been informing friends about this organization flowing through LiveJournal role-play, and I am unsure if they’d be comfortable switching to an online forum when they haven’t even introduced their characters yet. So maybe I see the online forum working, sometime in future once players have been able to meet one another and see what ‘Dragon rp’ is all about. I’m not sure really what to say solidly. I prefer the use of LiveJournal for this community but if you’d really like to switch an online forum:

It will either take me a great deal of time to figure out and operate the forum with ease,

I’ll just have to keep posting and connecting to others through the community until all have transported to the online forum and I can no longer operate, or lastly…

I’d have to call it quits.

Re: Fascinating.
itas actually easier and much mroe organized than livejournal where on livejournal you may have to make a brand new post since eventually all the replies end up going to the right. while on a forum, its a straight line, and the replies can be endless. Also, with a forum, you can make seperate forum links for seperate role play areas. so say borasheem was its own thing. and obviously the beginning was another. they could possibly intertwine say a character gets lost in "the beginning" since both "forums" take place ont he same planet they technically can meet up in another forum like borasheem.

but also like i said, im probably going to keep this going, but i prefer the use of a forum personally. they work just like livejournal if not easier. plus if there are new posts that you dont want to read on your friends page or on the comm itself, theyre safely tucked away inside another link in that specific area of the forum.

I think you might find the use of a forum for this sort of thing actuall more convienient, than livejournal.

But its just me. And i still want to keep this going. im on another forum too, and i just like the variety i get with different methods of RPing. ^_-

So you've decided to change this community into an online Forum then? I don't know how to define, "I still want to keep this going."
Aliciabicentennial76 on March 6th, 2006 03:50 am (UTC)
not change. its still its own thing.

but i have another "forum" that is of the same name. since both are mine, the name will just be the same for simplicity really.

dont worry, ill still be here because i use livejournal all the time. but i find that after using it a bit. its very very unorganized for my taste compared to the use of a forum.

have you used a forum before? or do you mostly stay away from them? also, i wanted to ask what you meant by how it would run on your comp? do you mean like an aplication youd install on your computer?
Shadowlight (Shad): Fam Scareddrone_dragon on March 6th, 2006 03:55 am (UTC)
I have no idea how to use or operate on a forum. I have never worked/seen a forum before. I wouldn't know how to install myself onto the forum, how to organize ideas/story-lines/surprises on the forum, I wouldn't even know where to start! :)
Aliciabicentennial76 on March 6th, 2006 04:01 am (UTC)
they work exactly like livejournal, when you sign up you can click an option that allows you to recieve replies to any of your posts. and you can also actuall subscribe to threads that are not yours, but have an interest in reading. ( livejournal cant do that unless you add it to your friends page, and even then it dosnt email you...as far as i know.)

theres nothing to install either! just bookmark the website. thats about it.

and you can do so much more. Take a look at the link i gave you and maybe click the Characters "thread" youll see my post. its as simple as that!! I really think you would dig it.

its all done with text so its really no different than livejournal. but really and i know im emphasising the organization thing. but its true. its so much cleaner and smoother run. plus, i can have different levels of Moderators. Like ones who can go delete posts. while others can move things around and delete posts. its just a whole different level. and its simple to use. if not simpler than livejournal suprisingly enough.. I think you should sign up and try it youd really like it, and it wouldnt take more than 30 minutes to learn everything about the forum in a whole. very straightforward!

So far I've registered an account on runboard.com, but apparently I also need to find out how to register myself onto the actual forum! (One of my friends from another college was helping me do this!)

I'm so online illiterate! So, some questions that popped up in my head:

Do we copy all that we've done so far on the community into this new forum or do we just keep running new scenes as if nothing has changed?

I am not very good at learning new online stuff, but will most likely ask you questions (my friend has gone to sleep) if any on how to set this all up!

(Itches head frantically) Wish me luck!
Aliciabicentennial76 on March 6th, 2006 06:06 am (UTC)
lol ^_^

i think that if you post once, you become a member. I wasnt sure if we would copy it either, its really up to you, we can continue it on livejournal or like you said, copy it and resume there. Good luck!!

Hee hee! You're so gonna kill me after reading this!!!
After much confusion, it appears that the forum's public information center (i.e. user information) updates itself, but it still takes like an hour to update newly written personal information on the user! UGH! Sorry for all the replies leading to massive paranoia!

But, could you still do me a big favor and delete the entry I made on Friden under the character section? It's titled: Friden. The one I want to keep is the longer titled one (Friden the Red Wolf). The "Friden" titled one had a error I had made on trying to insert a picture. Thank you for putting up with me! I owe you an ice-cream sundae!

Re: Hee hee! You're so gonna kill me after reading this!!!
LOL Ive deleted it though, i think you can delete your own posts as well. when you click the entry you made, there should be a little box under your information to the left it has an edit option and such as well, but of course, im head admin so i dont know if your options are the same as mine. they should be though for your own posts!
Shadowlight (Shad)drone_dragon on March 6th, 2006 04:17 pm (UTC)
Actually, I tried to delete my own post but the server said I had to be a particular something in order to do so. So I laughed and instead asked you! :)

But hey, this forum thing is working out pretty decently indeed! I'm all signed up and ready to pursue my posts and stories for you and the others! I sent you an e-mail informing you that "The Beginning" has been placed on a word document and can be immediately posted on your forum, just needed your full permission to do so!!! :P

I'll be trying to convince my two other friends that they should try and switch as well. Hopefully they are more internet wise than myself.

Hey, thanks for your help and your confidence in me. This idea wasn't as bad as my emo self fortold it so! In fact you are correct, it is far more impressive, organized, and better in the big picture.

Well done! (GTG to class! AHHH!!!) One last thing: You may either continue the story line (where it last left off on LJ) or probably continue it into the forum if you please. Just let me know!
